Hamilton Co. property values fall again

Hamilton County Auditor Dusty Rhodes has completed a once-every-six- years assessment of every home in the county.

The news for homeowners is mixed. Property values for most homes is a lot lower than before, but that translates into lower property taxes.

The auditor’s office began mailing notice of the values on May 23 and will continue to do so over the next five weeks.  Rhodes says these are tentative values and beginning on Monday, June 6 people can contest that value if they want.

To see when your value will be mailed plus when and where a meeting in your community will take place go to http://www.hamiltoncountyauditor.org/ .

Rhodes says if you have received the notice and want to contest it, you can do so in an informal online review process.
